In the early morning of June 7, Apple has also officially released the new systems of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16, and macOS 13 Ventura to fruit fans.

The big news is that Apple will introduce the advanced AV1 codec to Apple fans, and now this code has appeared in the core program.

As early as WWDC22, Apple launched the M2 self-developed chip, but it still does not support the advanced AV1 codec. Apple supports up to ProRes video.

The latest internal leaked information says: Apple is preparing for AV1, a new global variable named: kCMVideoCodecType_AV1.

In addition, Apple is mainly used on iOS, iPad, and macOS, and AV1 is an important ecosystem for the future development of Apple.

Now there are many support for this function, such as: Intel supports AV1 decoding, but also supports separate encoding, mainly used for editing SVT-AV1 using its own CPU.

The most advanced Apple M1 and M2 do not yet support AV1 encoding and decoding, and they are not far behind. I believe that Apple will introduce this feature to Apple fans soon.

Apple fans need to get the update file back to iOS 16. After installing it correctly on your iPhone or iPad, you can download the iOS and iPadOS 16 updates by setting up a general software update.
